The numbers are in for the Blue Flag 2014/15 season, and South Africa has a record 82 awarded sites, with 45 beaches, six marinas and six whale-watching boats having full status, and 25 sites awarded Pilot Status – something like an incubation stage.

The Western Cape is home to a whopping 27 of those beaches, nine of which are in the City of Cape Town.

Congrats to Silwerstroomstrand, Clifton 4th, Camps Bay, Llandudno, Muizenberg, Strandfontein, Mnandi, Bikini and Melkbosstrand (pilot) beaches in Cape Town!
