The big day has arrived. It’s Black Friday and the Mother City’s shoppers have got their fair share of jaw-dropping deals. But not without a solid dose of mayhem. There’s no doubt that Cape Town is home to a throng of budget-savvy locals who are more than willing to go the extra mile to score a bargain.

At Edgars, customers grabbed whatever they could get their hands on and rejoiced in the wake of one-day-only specials.

The aisles of Checkers in N1 City were packed with trolleys leaving barely any space to move, as patrons scurried around to bag their grocery essentials.

All hell broke loose at the Golden Acre shopping centre as shoppers hustled to get through the doors of Game.

At a host of other retail outlets, queues that seemed to be never-ending were a sight to behold. This shows just a couple of them:
