March 2020 marked the beginning of a new way of life nobody could have seen coming. As a country, we’ve been through the motions together. At every level, from banana bread to home brews, South Africans have done what South Africans do best – stick together when the going gets tough.
On Sunday President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation, easing restrictions further as the country moves to Level 1. The announcement was made in light of a positive trend of decreased active Covid-19 cases and increased recovery reports.
Saturday saw a total of 1 513 393 cases reported, with 1 430 259 people recovered. A positive 94 percent recovery rate is something to celebrate!
“The country has now emerged from the second wave,” said the president.
The move to level 1 is supported by a drop in Covid-19 infections over the past two weeks. Finally, a burst of light emerges amongst the grey.
Our President urges all South Africans to continue operating safely, wearing masks at all times and practicing safe social-distancing.
