Rhenish Girls’ High School, Stellenbosch, has tragically lost a grade 12 learner. The cause of death is an apparent suicide, according to SABC News.
It has been reported that police were contacted “immediately and counselling support has been arranged for learners.”
Police spokesperson, FC Van Vyk has appealed to community members to report cases were learners are manifesting symptoms of depression.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of a 18 year old learner at a school in Stellenbosch is being investigated following an incident on 2021-05-25. A death inquest case docket has been registered.”
