The people of Zimbabwe are rejoicing after President Robert Mugabe resigned after 37 years of ruling the southern African country. Emmerson Mnangagwa is likely to succeed Mugabe. Parliament speaker Jacob Mudenda announced his resignation, reading from a letter: “I Robert Gabriel Mugabe in terms of section 96 of the constitution of Zimbabwe hereby formally tender my resignation… with immediate effect.”
