A total of 11 093 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in South Africa with the majority of the cases coming from the Gauteng province, who saw an increase of 7,471 new infections.
There has been 297 deaths reported, with the death toll now standing at 59,092.
The breakdown of new cases in each province within a 24-hour cycle is as follows:
- Western Cape: 847
- North West: 720
- KwaZulu-Natal: 551
- Eastern Cape: 385
- Free State: 365
- Mpumalanga: 294
- Limpopo: 263
- Northern Cape: 197
The recovery rate stands at 90.3% which translates to 1,665 540 people who have recuperated.
So far, a total of 2 229 242 people have been vaccinated.
