Cape Town has entered the heatwave of summer, and nothing has made these hot evenings more uncomfortable than sitting without electricity, and subsequently, no aircon. Mild relief will be coming in the coming days, as there are seven days of rain coming.

While the rain will not be as heavy as it was in the winter months, the drops will do well to cool a hot city caught in a simmering heatwave.

According to a 14-day long-range forecast found on myweather2.com, rain expected to fall on the following dates:

Saturday, December 14

Sunday, December 15

The evening of Tuesday, December 17

Wednesday, December 18

The early hours of the morning of Thursday, December 19

Friday, December 20

Saturday, December 21

This week, Cape Town’s average dam level is measured at 80.1% – whereas last year, it only measured 69.6%.

After overcoming a long, hard drought, Capetonians are grateful for every drop of rain we receive. A shift in habit occurred during the threat of Day Zero, helping residents save water in adopted habits we no longer notice.

While we are happy for the summer heat, we still love when the rains fall to replenish our dams.
