South African-born beauty, Gizelle Uys, made history and all of South Africa proud by being crowned Miss Eco International 2020.

The prestigious event is a beauty pageant with a purpose. The competition aims to celebrate and promote remarkable women who are passionate about implementing environmental change and creating awareness. The event was held in Egypt over 17 days, requiring the women to partake in several cultural activities in anticipation of the final event.

“Miss Eco International is an International Beauty competition that brings together representatives of different cultures and traditions from all over the World. Its main objective is to promote the importance of saving our planet environmentally in addition to marketing tourism across the world.” – Miss Eco International.

Gizzelle’s win is significant in more ways than one. Not only is she the first South African to take home the crown, but she is also the first winner from the continent of Africa. While the event is traditionally hosted in Africa, since its inception, no one from the continent has been lucky enough to take home the crown – until now.

The sixth edition of Miss Eco International (2020) was initially scheduled to take place from the 23rd of March to the 11th of April 2020 but was unfortunately postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’re incredibly proud of this achievement and wish her nothing but the best for her reign as Miss Eco International!
