The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is offering a R5000 reward for information that will help find an injured missing dog. The animal was last seen at 23723 Nkani Street in Wallacedene on Wednesday, January 13.
Inspectors from the animal welfare organisation happened upon the dog and discovered that its two back legs were broken. The animal is unable to walk and is in terrible pain, according to a Facebook post made by the organisation.
“The owner refused our offer of assistance. Our Inspectors then had to resort to obtaining a court order to confiscate the dog. Unfortunately the dog was removed from the property before we could return with the court order to confiscate the dog,” said the SPCA.
The organisation requested help from the Kraaifontein South African Police Service (SAPS) to obtain a court order to allow the SPCA to confiscate the dog and were denied any help.
“The SAPS Officers refused to execute the court order and refused to assist our Inspectors with the arrest of the owners for obstructing our Inspectors, concealing the dog and being in contempt of a court order,” continued the SPCA.
The welfare organisation then made contact with the Western Cape Provincial Office of the South African Police Service for assistance and intervention. The owner of the dog has been arrested but they are still searching for the injured dog.
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is calling on the public to help locate the animal so that it can receive much-needed veterinary attention.
