Two people have died in Blackheath after their informal structure caught alight on Monday, April 12.

SABC reported that the bodies of an adult and child were already burnt beyond recognition in Omo Court in Wimbledon when firefighters arrived on the scene.

According to Cape Town Fire spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, the cause of the blaze remained unknown and police are investigating.

This is the second fire in less than two weeks after a fire ripped through a backyard dwelling in Moses Street, Delft South on Sunday, April 4. The inferno claimed the lives of a mother, father and their 5-month-old twin boys.

This is a developing story.
