A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Cape Town waiter Braden Cannoo. The Cape Town community was shocked by Cannoo’s death after he attempted to stop a robbery.
Cannoo died on Monday, August 3 after he followed robbers who had allegedly stolen a cell phone from from the restaurant where he worked.
Robbers entered the restaurant and posed as customers but instead stole the phone from another customer, according to the owner of the restaurant, David Ellis. Cannoo then tried to get the phone back as they ran off.
“Braden responded by following them out to their car. He jumped on the bonnet and they proceeded to race off at high speed through the Steenberg village parking,”explains restaurant owner David Ellis. He unfortunately slipped under the car and got stuck. The car sped towards the Reddam/consulate traffic circle where he was eventually freed from under the car and succumbed to his injuries. Very tragic and sad,” Ellis concluded.
On Thursday, August 6 a suspect was arrested in connection with the incident.
According to NPA regional spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, Kholwani Sigalelana (34) appeared at the Wynberg Magistrates Court 4 on Tuesday, August 11 charged with the murder of Branden Cannoo.
