The City of Cape Town has announced that multiple routes leading into Cape Town’s CBD have been reopened, and 23 taxis have been towed away as a result of a taxi protest.
Minibus taxis blocked all major routes into the city earlier this afternoon, causing heavy delays. The City has since towed away nearly three dozen taxis to clear the way.
As reported by CapeTalk, law enforcement has also been deployed to the CBD bus terminal where taxi drivers are reportedly attacking commuters who want to board Golden Arrow buses.
Taxi drivers have allegedly been protesting against the issuing of warrants and the impounding of illegal operators.
They also caused disruptions in the CBD earlier this week when they blocked the area around the station deck and smashed a number of Golden Arrow bus windows.
