Property Fox, an online property start-up, recently released a new report detailing which suburbs you need to reside in to give your child a better chance at a specific school.

While many schools do not state any explicit entry requirements, those who live in specific feeder suburbs may have a greater advantage than those who live in areas further away.

Firstly, we’ve identified some of the best ‘school’ suburbs – and have given average house prices in each of these areas,” Property Fox said. “This should help you buy close to the best schools in the country.”

Some suburbs which are designated feeder suburbs in the Western Cape include Durbanville, Vredehoek, Rondebosch, Plumstead and Wynberg.

The report looked at 66 of the top-performing schools in the country, determined by matric results and provided information of which schools give specific preference to certain traits a child has to offer, such as being a legacy – this is when there is a long-standing tradition of members of a specific family.

Although the Western Cape Department of Education has not yet determined any feeder zones for public schools in the province, some schools give preference to learners from specified feeder zones.
