South Africa’s beloved comedian Trevor Noah has been nominated for a Grammy Award. Noah, who is now a talk show host in the US, is popular for his witty take on politics and inclusive philosophy.
The entertainer took to Facebook, expressing his excitement and commending his fellow nominees, ending with “What a life I’ve been blessed enough to live. Thank you mom.”
The Grammy Awards is an annual ceremony that honours musicians and audio artists in a range of genres and consists of 84 categories. Noah is nominated in the category for Best Comedy Album for an audio recording of his stand-up special titled Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia.
He is just as active off-stage as on, having set up a charity organisation called The Trevor Noah Foundation, which invests in equipping orphans and vulnerable youth with the education, life skills, and social capital necessary to pursue further opportunities upon graduating high school. Noah is also the author of Born a Crime, an autobiographical book about his upbringing during the apartheid era.
The Grammy Awards will be aired on January 26, 2020.
