South Africans have taken to social media to express their shock and sorrow following the death of Jacana Media Publisher Nadia Goetham on Sunday.

Goetham’s family confirmed she died of a COVID-19 related medical condition.

“Nadia, who carved her early career in print journalism and later made her mark in the book publishing arena, will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Her death was swift and untimely. Our hearts are shattered,” the family’s statement read.

According to SABC, Goetham joined Jacana in 2015 as a production manager. In her short biography, she says she was soon bitten by the publishing bug and she moved to chasing authors and stories.
