Following the scheduled implosion of the Tulip Hotel on Sunday, the question on everybody’s lips is, what happens next?

An awesome new hotel is what happens next.

London-based architectural firm Dexter Moren Associates have been selected to design the ultra-modern hotel (name not yet known). It’ll add an extra 500 rooms to the city’s accommodation stats, 300 of which will be three-star with the remaining 200 rooms ranking in at four stars.

An additional 300 parking bays will be built, and the hotel’s running will create more than 200 new permanent jobs.

The development will keep in line with the trend of taller-scale of buildings fronting Strand Street.  The design has been approved by the city and specifically responds to the streetscape of the heritage-rich location. At this point, pretty much anything would be more welcome than the old Tulip Hotel, which was looking worse for wear in recent years.
