A global ranking by online course website Class Central has noted that five online courses offered by the University of Cape Town (UCT) are among the best in the world. The rankings are based on more than 60 000 user reviews, and is ordered according to the Bayesian average of their ratings.
The Top 100 List features courses from 53 universities across the globe, and only three have five courses on the list. These include:
– Massachusetts Institute of Technology (based in the USA)
– University of Sheffield (based in the UK)
– University of Cape Town (based in South Africa)
“This news is testament to the passion and expertise of our fabulous academics, who have opened their teaching to a global audience and to the production teams who have designed such high-quality online courses,” Sukaina Walji, the online education project manager at the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) at UCT, told BusinessTech. “It’s a nice acknowledgement. For UCT, as a university with fewer resources compared to others globally, it’s not an insignificant achievement.”
