The QS World University Rankings for 2014/15 have been released, with the University of Cape Town moving up four rankings to the number 141 spot on the list. The rankings compare 800 tertiary institutions worldwide in terms of research, graduate employability, teaching and international outlook.

UCT has been steadily working its way up the rankings, from 161st in 2010, 156th in 2011, 154th in 2012 and 145th last year. It is the top-ranked university in Africa, and is among the top 10 in the BRICS grouping.

Not only that, it also fell within the top 100 in the Life Sciences and Medicine category, and just outside the top 100 for Arts and Humanities.

Stellenbosch University, in the Cape Winelands, also made the list, at 390.
