Amidst the lockdown in the United Kingdom, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has relaxed the strict regulations. Residents are allowed to spend as long outdoors as they want, but still have to adhere to social distancing rules.
“From this Wednesday we want to encourage people to take more and even unlimited amounts of outdoor exercise,” Johnson said.
“You can sit in the sun in your local park, you can drive to other destinations, you can even play sports but only with members of your own household.”
Those who do not adhere to social distancing rules, however, can expect a heavy fine. “You must obey the rules on social distancing and to enforce those rules we will increase the fines for the small minority who break them.”
He also said that those who cannot work from home, should return to their workplace.
Not all are in favour of this decision, however. The First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, said on Twitter that her message to Scotland remains to stay home.
The Sunday papers is the first I’ve seen of the PM’s new slogan. It is of course for him to decide what’s most appropriate for England, but given the critical point we are at in tackling the virus, #StayHomeSaveLives remains my clear message to Scotland at this stage. https://t.co/zrnEgTC15H
