A firefighter has died in the battle to douse a fire that has ravaged the Vermaaklikheid area of the Garden Route. The firefighter died after a Working On Fire (WOF) helicopter crashed, but the cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
Speaking to TimesLIVE, the Garden Route District Municipality has deemed the fire “out of control”. Approximately 100 buildings are at risk of being razed by the fire, but no evacuations have yet been initiated.
