A video shared on Facebook of a ‘big fat jol’ in Camps Bay on Sunday, December 27 has social media users extremely concerned about another lockdown because of this unruly behaviour. This comes shortly after Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that South Africa reached the one-million mark with the number of cases reported since the outbreak.
The video was shot by a concerned woman and shows patrons blatantly flouting lockdown rules by not social distancing and not wearing masks. In the clip, you can see a packed restaurant with people sitting around with no masks on, others dancing outside the establishment.

The woman who shot the video calls Camps Bay a ‘no mask zone’ and said authorities were duly notified of the non-compliance. The restaurant has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
Some social media users called the video ‘shocking’ and ‘digusting’.
Another said: “And that is why uncle Cyril is going to talk again in a few days time and then everyone is going to cry when we go into some sort of lockdown again. But what else must we do if people can’t listen….for some reason people just don’t understand. There r just simply no rules to some people.”
On Sunday, the number of new cases increased by 9502, with the Western Cape remaining the second-highest contributor. Currently, Gauteng accounts for 27.3% of the country’s active coronavirus cases, while the Western Cape and Eastern Cape contribute 19.6% and 16.6% respectively.
