Police in Vietnam have seized nearly 345 000 used condoms, which had been cleaned to be resold as new to unsuspecting customers, according to a Vietnam Television (VTV) report.
Footage shown by the state-owned broadcaster this week showed dozens of bags that contained the used condoms littered across the floor of a warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong.
The police said the bags weighed more than 360kgs, according to VTV.
The owner of the warehouse told a local newspaper that they received a “monthly input of used condoms from an unknown person”.

A woman, arrested during the police raid, explained that the used contraceptives were first boiled in water then dried and reshaped with wooden dildos before being repackaged and sold.
The number of recycled condoms already sold is unclear, according to VTV. The detainee said that she received $0.17 (R2.83) for every kilogram of recycled condoms produced.
Neither the woman nor the owner of the warehouse were available for comment.
