The Western Cape has 4 131 active COVID-19 infections, with a total number of 294 207 COVID-19 cases and 278 265 recoveries as of May 31, the latest provincial COVID-19 report shows.

Here is a breakdown of the province’s COVID-19 figures:

  • Total number of COVID-19 cases to date 294 207
  • Total recoveries 278 265
  • Total deaths 11 811
  • Total active cases (currently infected patients) 4131
  • Tests conducted 1 640 550
  • Hospitalisations 850, of which 188 are in high care or ICU

The province has also recorded 18 additional deaths since the last update on Friday, May 28,  bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 11 811.

Meanwhile, the vaccination roll-out continues around the province as hundreds of seniors make their way to vaccination centres.


The province has also increased the number of vaccination sites to 53 as of Monday, May 24, with more to follow.
