The Western Cape has 4327 active COVID-19 infections, with a total number of 295 047 COVID-19 cases and 278 897 recoveries as of June 2, the latest provincial COVID-19 report indicates.

Here is a breakdown of the province’s COVID-19 figures:

  • Total recoveries 278 897
  • Total deaths 11 823
  • Total active cases (currently infected patients) 4327
  • Tests conducted 1 649 127

The province has also recorded 3 additional deaths since the last update on Tuesday, June 2, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 11 823.

Meanwhile, the vaccination roll-out continues around the province as hundreds of seniors make their way to vaccination centres. According to Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde the province has been scaling up its vaccination roll-out, by opening up more sites every week.

“This scale-up is necessary because we need to make sure our roll-out keeps up with the supply of vaccines to the Western Cape. These supplies arrive weekly.”

“The increased supply will enable more sites to open, more appointments to be scheduled, and many more vaccinations to take place, ” Winde said.
