According to the latest provincial COVID-19 report, the Western Cape has 18 518 active COVID-19 infections, with a total number of 323 711 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 292 841 recoveries as of Wednesday, June 30.

As at 1pm on 30 June 2021, the Western Cape had 18 518 active COVID-19 infections, with a total number of 323 711 COVID-19 cases to date and 292 841 recoveries.

Here’s a breakdown of the province’s COVID-19 figures:
- Total number of COVID-19 cases to date 323 711
- Total recoveries 292 841
- Total deaths 12 352
- Total active cases (currently infected patients) 18 518
- Tests conducted 1 801 909
- Hospitalisations 1756, of which 444 are in high care or ICU
Meanwhile, the Acting National Minister of Health, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, indicated on Tuesday, June 29, that the vaccination registration for those aged between 50 to 59 will open on Thursday, July 1 and will commence on July 15.
Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde added that he requested this change at the President’s Coordinating Council to ensure a swift transition to the next age group.
“This is an important step to ensure that we are ready for the next phase in the vaccination programme,” Winde said.
