The Western Cape has 2 187 active Covid-19 infections with a total of 281 231 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 267 548 recoveries of 1pm, April 9.
A total of 52 697 out of the 53 820 vaccines received to date as part of the Sisonke trial, had been administered by 5pm on 8 April, reports Premier Alan Winde.
Here is a breakdown of the province’s COVID-19 figures:
- Total confirmed COVID-19 cases 281 231
- Total recoveries 267 548
- Vaccines administered 52 697
- Total deaths 11 496
- Total active cases (currently infected patients) 2 187
- Tests conducted 1 458 431
- Hospitalisations: There are currently 764 people in hospital, of which 161 are in ICU.
Winde has further urged Capetonians continue to stay safe and take the necessary measures to protect themselves and their loved ones from transmitting or becoming infected with Covid-19.
“We can do this by continuing to wear our masks correctly, sanitising and washing our hands regularly, as well as maintaining a safe social distance,” said Winde.
