Two men have been arrested after a 51- year-old woman from Goodwood, in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, was found dead in the storeroom of her home. The suspects were arrested on Wednesday. The cause of death has not yet been established.
South African Police Services spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk, said that the woman’s body was discovered at 9.30pm on Tuesday evening in Cook Street after her family had reported her missing.
Her car, a grey Hyundai Elantra, and a hard drive from the home’s CCTV cameras were also missing.
After pictures of the missing car were circulated, members of the SAPS dog unit who were working in Elsies River at the time spotted the vehicle. The officers became suspicious and followed both cars.
When the VW and Hyundai stopped, the two drivers aged between 30 and 32 years old, were arrested. The stolen hard drive was also recovered from the Hyundai.
“The two men arrested will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder,” Van Wyk said.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” he added in reference to the victim.
