Following the death of Michele Pietersen, a former teacher in Paarl who was killed when a massive rock was thrown at her car and hit her in the early hours of November 28 on the N1, another report suggests the rock throwing attacks in this area are far from over.

A member of the ‘Cape Town Talking’ Facebook group shared a post from a woman named Chantelle Crocker, who alleges that her friend was attacked by four men whilst driving on the N1 outbound.

“On her way home from work at 03:00 this morning my friend who works in the hospitality industry in Cape Town was attacked by four males who placed rocks on the N1 outbound in the vicinity of Century City,” Crocker writes. “She slowed down when she saw the road was obstructed. They approached her car and threw a rock through the driver’s window injuring her. Thankfully she managed to reverse away from them and got away.”

“The modus operandi was exactly the same as that of the incident at Paarl a week ago in which a woman lost her life.”

“Please be extremely careful and avoid travelling there late at night,” Crocker pleads.

Locals are urged to be cautious when travelling on the N1, especially in the late evening or early hours of the morning.

SAPS has not yet confirmed the details surrounding this incident.
