The National Sea Rescue Institute has appealed to anyone who has information regarding the disappearance of 21-year-old international student Marie Ostbo.
Ostbo, who arrived in Sedgefield with a group of other international students on 18 April, went for a walk on the beach with a few members of the group around 6pm. The rest of the group returned at around 7pm, and noticed that Marie had not returned with them.
Ostbo was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white shirt, about 100 metres from the backpacker’s lodge the group was staying at.
NSRI Wilderness and Community Police arrived on scene at 7.40pm, and were unable to find Ostbo despite an extensive search. All possibilities are being explored. SAPS and a police K-9 Search and Rescue have also not been able to track down Ostbo, the search continues.
