Applications for locals to completed their postgraduate studies in the United States have officially opened. The 2020 – 2021 Fulbright Foreign Student Program was established in 1946 and currently operates in South Africa and more than 150 countries worldwide, giving scholars the opportunity to study abroad.
Students are given the opportunity to pursue their Master’s or Doctoral Degree at any accredited tertiary institution in the United States. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition along with general living expenses in the United States.
Hosted by the United States Embassy and Consulates in South Africa, an official release is encouraging students to start the process. Applications close on April 19 2019.

A reported 29 South African students were awarded the scholarship in 2018 and are currently pursuing their postgraduate studies at academic institutions in the United States. These talented locals are pursuing studies in a range of fields from economics and audiology to philosophy and molecular biology.
These locals are currently completing their studies at a number of different higher education establishments from the University of Pennsylvania, University of California to Ohio State University.
Requirements
In order to be eligible for the scholarship South African students must have completed at four-year B-Tech degree or a three-year Bachelor’s degree with an Honours Degree.
Those who intend to apply for their Doctorate must have successfully completed their Master’s degree.
Students must be highly motivated and have an exceptional academic record.
Any field of study is applicable to the scholarship and is not limited to specifics.
The Fulbright Program is the United States Government’s flagship international educational exchange.
