Valentine’s Day isn’t always about hearts and love. For those who are single and have been burned in previous relationships, this holiday can be a sad reminder of that one terrible ex.

Luckily, the El Paso Zoo in Texas is back with their popular “Quit bugging me” campaign, allowing people to call out those exes by naming a cockroach after them.

It’s the first of February, and you know what that means! It’s time to send us the name of whoever’s been “bugging” you…

Simply send the zoo the name of whoever is “bugging” you, whether it be an ex, a boss, or whoever has been a thorn in your side – and the zoo will name a roach after them in your honour.

On the International Day of Love, the cockroaches are fed to an array of zoo animals such as iguanas, skinks, and meerkats. This event will be live-streamed on their Facebook page over Valentine’s weekend, February 13-14.

To submit a name, simply click HERE. There is no fee to submit a name but donations are welcome, although not required. Donations collected will remain at the zoo for conservation efforts and to further the zoo’s mission statement.

As a special incentive, the Zoo Director, Joe Montisano and select staff will eat a cockroach for every $1,000 (R14 917) raised!
