Former President Jacob Zuma will not be going to jail, not any time soon. This is after Zuma pleaded with the Constitutional Court to reconsider its ruling of finding him guilty for contempt of court on Tuesday, June 29.

Zuma was initially ordered to serve 15 months in prison and he had five days to hand himself over at Nkandla or at the central  Johannesburg police station.

At the time of his hearing, Justice Sisi Khampepe indicated that no one is above the law as she handed Zuma his verdict.

However, the Constitutional Court indicated on Saturday, July,3, that it has now agreed to hear Zuma’s application for a rescission of its contempt ruling against him, News 24 reported.

According to Business Day, the Constitutional Court did not state Zuma’s fate after he was ordered to hand himself over to authorities on Sunday, July 4. Meanwhile, Zuma also took time out on Saturday  to address his supporters at Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal.

Suspended ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule also arrived in KZN to show support to his fellow ANC comrade.
