Exercising is a great idea but with the warm Cape Town weather, doing it outdoors is an even better one. It just so happens that our city boasts numerous outdoor areas where you can pump iron and get into shape. What’s more, they’re free to use and are in particularly beautiful locations too.
1 Sea Point Promenade
Sea Point‘s a great place for outdoor activity. You can ride your bicycle along the promenade, entertain the kids at the play park or have a run while gazing at the ocean. And with the new parking system for bicycles, you can rest assured your wheels are taken care of while you get a full-body workout at the outdoor gym area. The gym consists of weight machines, bars, an elliptical and more, all firmly situated on a large circular platform.
2 Surfer’s Corner, Muizenberg
Those closer to Muizenberg can also enjoy a workout by the sea. The equipment is a bit more limited here but will still do the trick if you’re in the mood to do some dips and L-sits. You’re welcome to bring along any equipment of your own too, such as kettle bells, ropes and sandbags.
3 Green Point Urban Park
Green Point Park is a great place for many activities, such as having picnics, going on outings with the family, relishing in the Cape’s natural beauty and taking the dog for a walk. It’s also an awesome workout area. Available from 7 am to 7 pm every day, the varied equipment here will ensure a great workout under the Cape Town sun. Plus, there are loads of runners and workout groups that make full use of the park’s facilities too.
