The Fairtree Simonsberg Contour Trail Run Stage Race will take place on 10 and 11 February. The event runs over two days and the entry fees vary according to the route selection and whether runners want to part take for one or two days.
The entry fee includes timing, breakfast, lunch, water points, and a medal. A total prize of R10 000 will be up for grabs for the overall winners with equal prize money for the ladies and men. Only runners, who complete both days of the same distance, qualify for prizes and trophies. No prizes will be awarded to those who mix their distances or complete one day.
According to route developer Meurant Botha of Dirtopia, runners familiar with Delvera’s trail runs are in for a surprise and should not expect the same routes as normally used for the popular trail runs hosted at this venue.
Based on feedback from the inaugural race, organisers have changed the route for Day 2 to make the exit and return to Delvera completely different to Day 1. Runners on both distances will head to Uitkyk Wine Estate with the 25km runners treated to Never Say Neverending Again – the 10km single track trail winding midway up the Simonsberg. The 25km route tops out at 640m above sea level, offering spectacular views of False Bay and the panorama continues all the way to Table Bay and north up the West Coast.
For 2018, the prior repeat start loop has been eliminated from the 15km route to allow for more single track, while the 25km runners can look forward to over 17km of single track trail.
Entries are limited, so enter online www.dirtopia.co.za to avoid disappointment. Registration will take place at the Dirtopia Trail Centre on Friday, 9 February from 12h00 – 18h00, Saturday and Sunday from 06h00 -07h00.
Meal vouchers can also be booked for family members and friends, who would like to come and support participants at the finish carnival with loads of kids’ entertainment.
