The Greenpop Reforest Festival is a chance for you to get your hands dirty for a good cause. It’s a getaway to help re-plant the ancient, indigenous Platbos Forest.
Greenpop is hosting two reforest festivals; one for families and one for friends. Both weekends focus on planting trees and learning about holistic green living. The Family Weekend has a special focus on play and activities for the kids. You can stay up a little later at the Friends Weekend as there is an additional focus on live music, dancing and having fun.
Both events are family friendly so whichever one you choose to join, you can be sure that camping under the stars and Milkwoods in the Platbos forest will be an enchanting experience.
Both events have great entertainment planned. On Friday, relaxing tunes in the ancient forest set the stage to bond with new friends around the campfire. On Saturday, prepare to get your hands dirty as you plant a lot of trees to help restore an endangered ecosystem. Enjoy a well-deserved shower before a forest party to celebrate the achievement.
The festivities for the Family Weekend includes performances by some talented South African artists and entertainment for all ages (see image below).
The musical lineup for the Friends Weekend includes acoustic soul and folk group, Paige Mac, indie folkster, Majozi, and the infamous Jeremy Loops and more.

Relax your body and nourish your soul on Sunday; a day of fun, educational activities and workshops including forest walks, yoga, hula hooping, interactive music sessions and instrument making, arts and crafts, talks on conservation and sustainable living, and performances. The Family Weekend also holds a treasure hunt and talent show in store as well as other surprises.
Your ticket for either event includes a place to pitch your tent, tree planting, fun and educational activities, live entertainment (music and plays), yoga classes, forest walks and more. Children under the age of four years enter for free for either event. Unfortunately, your fur babies are not allowed to join in on this getaway as no dogs are allowed in the forest.
Accommodation and food
The ticket price does not include meals. Greenpop will provide some snacks during the planting, and food trucks and vendors will be preparing fresh, veggie-based meals for purchase on site. If you are joining the Family Weekend, you can pre-book special vegetarian meal plans through Quicket.
Bring your camping gear and pitch your tent under the forest canopy. The older kids may prefer to camp in the special cordoned off area for kids over 10 years. Greenpop is also providing a few pitched tents with mattresses which you can rent for the weekend. You can Book through Quicket for the Family Weekend and camping provisions. Book through Quicket for the Friends Weekend and camping provisions. If you have a camper van, you can bring it along if it meets certain requirements. If you don’t love camping, you could book a guest house in the area and join the festival in the morning.
Getting there
