The Torpedo SwimRun series announced that there will be a prize pool of R100k for the Cape series taking place in November 2018. Adrenaline junkies, swimmers and runners are encouraged to gear up for the up-coming event.

The competition is known for its blood pumping and boundary pushing trail – taking place along the Cape Town Atlantic Coastline. Entrants experience a competition that tests runners and swimmers abilities while allowing them to enjoy the natural landscape of the Cape.

The race has two different section with the Torpedo SwimRun Wild taking place in the freshwaters, rivers and beaches of Wilderness in September 2018.

The race tests athletes physical and mental ability and entrants will scramble across rocks and dive into the cold waters of the Cape to trail run their way to victory.

Due to the competitions growing popularity the Torpedo SwimRun is able to increase their prize pool this year.

Torpedo SwimRun Prize Money

Co-founder of  Torpedo SwimRun Richard McMartin said,  “The growth of any sport comes from its athletes, and this prize purse is a reflection of both the global explosion of SwimRun and our intent that Torpedo will be a race that all professional multi-sport athletes aspire to win.” 

The increase in the prize money is expected bring about more interest and competition to the event – as triathlete Michael Lord indicated,”The increased prize money for the 2018 Cape Town event is a big step towards attracting high caliber racers from other disciplines, and perhaps beginning to create athletes focused solely on the SwimRun series.”

The race is a unique sports event as 2017 Winner Alexandra Quinet shared, “This race offers the most beautiful views, incredible terrains and proved to be such an challenging adventure. It was the most fun, tough, and beautiful race we have ever had the privilege of racing – and right at our back door!”

The SwimRun is an allrounder event that allows all types of disciplined athletes to test their skills and explore the natural landscape.
