All good things start with a long walk, whether it’s to freedom or to Rocklands. President Cyril Ramaphosa is taking a leaf out of Madiba’s books and taking steps in the right direction. On Wednesday morning, the president walked 5km from Khayalitsha to Mitchells Plain with the public once again. Capetonians hit the streets running, dressed in their best gear enjoying selfies and talks with the President. Since his last walk from Gugulethu to Athlone, the number of people have doubled.
Ramaphosa says he walks to keep fit, and joked about losing his tummy. He planned to go home to his Genadendal Residence, (the Official Residence of The President when in office at Tuynhuys) take a shower, have breakfast and then head off to cabinet meetings to change the country.
The President cheerfully greeted residents as he walked down Spine Road, Mitchells Plain. Organisations also came out to join Ramaphosa even managed to discuss some pressing matters, while they had the floor, or the road rather. Who is this guy, and where did he come from? We are proud to say, he is our President and is making his mark on the streets.
A presidential walk would not be complete without some tweets, selfies and videos with our President.
