Yes, you’ve probably heard it countless times before – and may even be tired of hearing this line (if you’re not a local), but Cape Town is indeed one of the most beautiful places on earth. There’s no denying the facts. One thing you probably won’t get tired of, no matter what part of the world you’re from, is seeing spectacular images that capture the Mother City in all of her glory.

These talented Igers venture behind the camera, braving the elements and chasing sunsets to bring breathtaking visuals to our feeds. Check out these 5 Cape Town-based photography accounts on Instagram for a unique perspective on the city through their lens.

1 @craighowes

With one of the biggest Instagram followings in South Africa, Craig Howes documents his outdoor adventures in striking shots of expansive landscapes. His images are majestic and truly utilise space and composition to highlight the grandiosity of Table Mountain or the majestic Atlantic Ocean.

2 @instacptguy

Sometimes in the moment, it’s hard to comprehend the true beauty of our surroundings. It may take a still-shot with some HD tweaking to truly bring out the incredible artistry that meets the eye. Heinrich Knoetze, professional photographer and cinematographer takes on that task. His images encapsulate motion and the dynamic of force of nature, from clouds rolling in over the escarpment to waves crashing on the shore. Each one is impeccably timed and boasts a sharp, refined illustration of our everyday visuals.

3 @natassjy

Natassja Zuidmeer provides a softer, more feminine take on mountain hikes and seaside scenery. Playing with lighting and purple hues of the twilight hours, her images are delicate and dream-like. We fall more in love with Cape Town with every image, as she romances us with sunsets and fresh, clean aesthetics.

4 @hipebeast

Wayne Hipe Robertson captures his view of the city in raw, real and gritty imagery. Contrary to the usual beach and mountain shots we’re so prone to seeing, this feed is one which presents an alternate reality of urban life and street culture.

5 @debruinphotography

UCT student Oliver de Bruin uses his free time to capture stunning sunset shots at the seaside. His images are vibrant and vivid, giving us wonderlust for the most secluded, untouched parts of the city.
