Being one of the world’s second-richest men and living a lavish lifestyle definitely goes hand-in-hand. Well, Tesla Motor’s CEO Elon Musk is the complete opposite as he confirmed in a tweet that he lives in a rented home in Boca Chica, Texas, that costs $50,000 which is just about R700,000 in South African currency.

The multi-billionaire recently celebrated his 50th birthday responded to a tweet about a prefabricated house. He tweeted, “I do live in a $50k house, but not this specific one.”

According to the Observer, Musk recently sold all his mansions in California as he focuses on making the earth greener. However, the SpaceX CEO indicated in June that he has only one house left in the San Francisco Bay area, Business Insider SA reported.

Musk’s home is reportedly a “Boxabl Casita” make, a 375-square-foot house with a kitchen, bedroom, and a bathroom that starts from $49,500. The Las Vegas-based company creates low-cost housing that can be set up in a day.
