A round-up of our style finds from earlier this week…

Chapel Rider

RIDE ON WITH CHAPEL
Chapel was founded by Caleb Pederson who, a bike rider himself, couldn’t find a likeable backpack that was made locally. He mocked one up, tested it on his friends and started production on what is now the Chapel bestseller, The Rider.
Using locally sourced materials, the backpacks are handmade in Cape Town and shipped worldwide. Check out their cool concept store in the Woodstock Exchange, or order your bag online.

FOLKLORIKKA
Folklorikka is a jewellery line by graphic-designer-turned-jewellery-designer Simone Toerien, based in the small coastal town of Hermanus.
We adore her The Familiars range, a selection of rings and pendants featuring swans, mice, hares and slender snakes, lovingly hand-crafted in sterling silver.

Klomp

A KLOMP OF CLAY
Alexia Klompje creates handmade ceramics inspired by her life, experiences and things around her. Each piece is part of her story, and Klomp Ceramics is a collection of this unique narrative.
Based in Cape Town with her husband Theo and Bruce Lee (her bull terrier), she founded Klomp Ceramics and crafts beautiful, feminine pieces. All ceramics are made and glazed by hand, a one-of-a-kind item.
We love this round disc of patterned porcelain. Eye-catching, classy and perfect for any outfit.

jaco haasbroek

HAASBROEK HUMOUR
Jaco Haasbroek is a freelance illustrator and designer from Cape Town whose his self-promotion is every designer’s dream – ‘No clients, no briefs, no deadlines… Will work for $’. His designs and illustrations are not only cute and funny, but a clever play on words.
The selection of products you can order from Society6 and Etsy is extensive – art prints, throw pillows, iPhone and laptop skins, wall clocks, t-shirts, hoodies, throw pillows and tote bags. We’ve narrowed it down to this A4 print that sums up his work perfectly.

Sols

SLIP INTO SOLS SANDALS
Uniquely Capetonian, these sandals are hand-crafted from re-used tyres, hemp and cork, so while you’re leaving footprints in the sand at the beach, your shoes are leaving hardly any carbon footprint on the planet. And these grey espadrilles are cute to boot!
