Between Eskom trying to figure out how to solve a national crisis, and proposed renewable energy solutions moving in slow motion, an app has been developed to help us in times of darkness.

Lately public opinion has it that sifting through a complicated load-shedding schedule to find out when an area will be affected just isn’t as easy as it should be. So now there’s an app for that.

I present to you, LoadShed.

This easy-to-use app has a user-friendly design that gives users the ability to add multiple suburbs to a watchlist. Alert notifications about load-shedding are sent via the app.

Basically it’s a simplified load-shedding schedule, embracing New Age technology. Extremely low bandwidth usage and some nifty features make this app a necessity for South Africans, not to mention its ‘free’ price tag.

Just remember to charge your phone before load-shedding strikes!
