Spotify, the digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs will now be available to South Africans. This music, podcast and video streaming service that was officially launched on 7 October 2008 is available in Europe, most of the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Asia and now we can too be part of the Spotify community. This makes it possibly to subscribe to the service without any technical or geographical workarounds. They have 71-million premium paying customers in 61 countries.
Capetonians will soon enjoy the wonderful world of Spotify, the app which has revolutionised how people listen to music. In September 2017, Spotify posted an job listing for a Senior Editor/Music Programmer in South Africa, which gripped everyone’s attention.
Spotify posted something, but didn’t give too much information, they just had ‘news to share’
What South African’s can expect:
– Free and premium (R118) packages
– It is available for most devices – including Windows, macOS, and Linux computers, as well as iOS, Windows Phone and Android smartphones and tablets
– Users can search by using parameters such as artist, album, genre, playlist, or record label
– Users can create, edit and share playlists and tracks on social media, and create playlists with other users
It seems like we’ve all been waiting for this news.

Spotify coming to South Africa!!! Their algorithm will differentiate them from other streamers. Can’t wait. Apple playlists and collaborative playlists will be hard pressed to keep up. Subscription Price is cheaper than iTunes. Nice to have new competition in SA….
