In Motion at Ground Art Caffe
Hosted by the Ground Art Caffe, this First Thursdays will see a unique exhibition of concept designs and blue prints of boats by international award-winning naval architect, Kobus Potgieter. The opening event invites event-goers to join them for an evening of design – and the rare opportunity to view the collector’s pieces. Enjoy complimentary wine, beverages and canapes on the night, and immerse yourself in the unique designs and artworks on display.

Not a Judge, not a Saint exhibition at Eclectica Contemporary
Johannesburg artist, Layziehound Coka’s solo exhibition at Eclectica Contemporary, is presented as a “neither nor statement with a slightly deceiving sense of neutralism reveals the ease at which we dissociate ourselves from the judgements we make.” Eclectica Contemporary says that his large, gestural body of work “expresses a turbulent experience of conflict when tackling the so-called moral compass the artist and those of us alike are taught to live by.”

Mosaic Art Collaborative Exhibition at City Bowl Health Kitchen
The City Bowl Health Kitchen has got an artsy twist up their sleeves for the upcoming instalment of First Thursdays with a showcase of new and existing art onto their walls. This time, they’re presenting the Mosaic, a piece of art made from the assemblage of small pieces of coloured glass, stone, or other materials. They’ll be some tasty food, drink and music to keep the good vibes flowing.

Pop-up Improv at Alexander Upstairs
August’s edition of First Thursday will see the beginning of three nights of improv. ImproGuise will be taking to Alexander’s stage to bring you their high risk, totally out there, long form improv in three unique and interesting improv formats. The Chair will be on show this coming First Thursday, and introduces a format created by Megan Furniss. A special guest is invited to take a seat in the chair, and a story follows from a word given by the audience. The cast will then create scenes inspired by their stories for an hour.
