Imagine a little cultural village, with all things nice, like sugar and spice. All the delicious food you can think of, designer boutiques and jewellery, kitchenware and office furniture, you name it. I know there are plenty of things to be done in Cape Town, but I think the Old Biscuit Mill should be one of the first places you visit, if not the first, actually.

For those who do not know, the Old Biscuit Mill is like an intimate mall, with a whole lot of activities and entertainment to enjoy. Everything is right in front of you, so there is no need to worry about things like running around Cape Town trying to find the stores (no headless chickens allowed here). This is a place where talented people come together to participate in the collaboration of earnestly manifesting their passions in the village of the Old Biscuit Mill.

Here’s what’s exciting, the Old Biscuit Mill is celebrating their 10th birthday this year and we are giving you 10 fun ideas of what you can do there, so here goes…

CocoaFair

If you love chocolate, you’ll love this. Go on a chocolate tour at CocoaFair. They even offer chocolate courses, how delicious is that?

Gourmet Food Galore

Foodies, raise your hands (mine’s also up, by the way). The Old Biscuit Mill has a number of places in which you can indulge. No matter your taste, you will find something you love. Places like Saucisse Boutique Deli, Redemption Burgers, and Burrata have a variety of foods to accommodate anyone and everyone’s tastebuds.

The Old Biscuit Mill also houses Africa’s best restaurant, The Test Kitchen, which recently made it onto the Worlds Best Restaurant list, and The Pot Luck Club and Gallery, not forgetting one of the best places to get your caffeine fix, Espresso Lab Microroasters.

Hint Hunt

Bring out the kid in you and play a game of Hint Hunt: the escape game, with 3–5 friends. This game is good for team building, and is fun and challenging. It doesn’t matter what age you are, we all need amusement.

Wine at the Mill

Ever heard of a wine boutique? Well, head down to Wine at the Mill for South Africa’s supreme wine secrets. You could learn a thing or two about your favourite wines. Not a wine lover? No problem. They also have other liquor for you to savour.

Arts and Crafts

We all have our preferences on how we want our rooms, dishes, dressing tables, and jewellery to look, although some of us aren’t as gifted as others when it comes to creativity. That is why there are places like Bead and Glass CabinAbode, Heartworks, Continuum, Karoo Moon Country Store, Livision, Mu & Me, Quirky.Me and Hayden Craft to rescue us. They have unique and creative locally produced and designed art, décor, furniture, artefacts and craftwork.

Pottery

If you’re looking to purchase beautiful African ceramics, whether for a friend of yours that is visiting from outside the country or even yourself (proudly African, maybe?), then do visit Imiso Ceramics and Clementina CeramicsSootcookie has you covered for some really cute, modern ceramic designs.

Neighbourgoods Market

Neighbourgoods Market is everyone’s favourite. Who doesn’t love good food and good company. This is where you’ll get farm fresh and organic foods. It is a good place to visit if you want to gain some knowledge about what we buy and eat. You might want to check out their calendar of seasonal events, specialty festivals, and live music features, which take place throughout the year.
