1. The Fugard Theatre
Making it on the list of places to see in Cape Town by CNN is no small feat and the thriving Fugard theatre offers a premier experience, established by as renowned playwright, Athol Fugard. Located in the heart of District Six, the playhouse offers an enriching cultural experience, with showcases such as ‘Shakespere in Love‘.

2. Kalk Bay Theatre
Situated in the seaside suburb of Kalk Bay, the local theatre that has a uniquely intimate touch with only 77 seats and managed by a couple who are entertainment enthusiasts. A restaurant is located on the property of the theatre and makes it a one stop for a perfect evening.
The playhouse showcases mostly local and some international performances and is wheelchair friendly for patrons.
The theatre used to be a deconstructed church but has now been morphed into a centre for arts and culture in Kalk Bay. The theatre runs a special on Tuesdays, buy one ticket and receive a second free of charge – making it an easy choice for a weekday outing.

3. The Masque Theatre
Located in Muizenberg, the Masque theatre is a hidden gem of the seaside area and hosts live productions, soirees, recitals and film shows. Making it more than a mere theatre but a venue for culture, entertainment and arts to thrive.

4. Baxter Theatre
When the word theatre comes to mind, its hard not to think of one of the ultimate spots, The Baxter. The well known playhouse is an architectural beauty with its in door high rise ceilings and unique lighting designs, housing an impressive amount of stages and performance arenas.
The theatre is known for its historically multicultural representation in the arts and culture.

5. The Magnet Theatre
The Magnet Theatre is an award-winning independent physical theatre company that has been operating for 30 years.
