This ‘above the Cape’ museum represents a 19th century Muslim household, and its photographic exhibition documents the history of this vibrant community.

Castle of Good Hope
The famous five-pointed-star castle of the Dutch East India Company was originally built as a maritime replenishment station. It’s the oldest surviving colonial building in SA and houses the Castle Military Museum.

District Six Museum
District Six was a vibrant community of freed slaves, artisans, merchants, labourers and immigrants. But during the apartheid era, 60 000 people were forcibly removed, and their houses and businesses demolished. The museum pays tribute to the memory of this shattered community.

Koopmans-De Wet House

Slave Lodge
Located in one of the city’s oldest buildings, exhibitions pay tribute to the more than 9 000 slaves who lived here between 1679 and 1811.
