GoodLuck have been making us dance for years with their incredible music, electric live performances and super-cool music videos. You can’t help but smile when one of their songs begin to play. Hailing from none other than the Mother City, they let us in on what they love most about their hometown.

1 How does Cape Town influence you and your music?

Since we live in Cape Town, for us it’s all about coming home. I think we write our best music when we’re at home because we are so inspired by this city and how it is so beautifully entwined with Mother Nature. Getting outside for a quick surf or a bike ride is what keeps us making good music and we all know Cape Town offers that and so much more.

2 What do you love most about this city?

The more we travel, the more we realise that we live in paradise. Cape Town is literally the best city we have ever been to – and that’s not just because we live here! We love the size of the city (not too big, not too small) and the creative buzz you feel when you walk around. It’s a melting pot of culture, food and creativity and we consider ourselves very lucky to live here.

3 If your friend was visiting Cape Town for the first time, where would you take them?

We always like to take our friends to Kalk Bay and Simon’s Town first. There’s something magical about that side of the mountain … You’re right near the ocean, there’s great food, and the people are very friendly and more down-to-earth than perhaps other parts of the city.

4 Describe the city in three words.

Evolving natural culture.

5 If you were to create a souvenir that represents Cape Town, what would it be or look like?

[I] actually already own a Table Mountain necklace, which is the perfect souvenir – it’s the outline of the mountain on a simple silver chain and it’s beautiful.

6 What’s your favourite Cape catchphrase?

Hahaha! There are some that you probably can’t print here!
