Matthew Mole may have been the star attraction at Vergenoegd Low Wine Estate in Stellenbosch last week, but it was the Indian Runner ducks who stole the show. The feathered hosts are one of the reasons why the wine estate is so popular. If you want to escape the city for an afternoon of live entertainment, fine wine and great food, and ducks – this is the place for you.

Mole is a fine musician and gathered up a full house headlining Vergenoegd’s second season of Vergenoegd Low Wine Estate. He had the audience thrilled from the very first note played on his ukulele.

Belting out hits like Run, Holding On and Inside Out Mole had the audience eating out the palms of his talented hands. Elsewhere on this glorious estate, the eating was done from plates filled with artisanal food from the market set up on the lawns. It’s the perfect combination for a Sunday afternoon: good food, quality wine and tasteful music.

If you didn’t catch the last concert, you’re in luck, you can look forward to more live entertainment in the coming weeks, with Desmond and the Tutus, Arno Carstens and Goodluck performing.

Vergenoegd is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest vineyards. Its style is rooted in Dutch architecture and the estate is known for its timeless appeal. The Live Summer Sunday Concerts adds a new dimension to the estate’s offering.

Granted, the runner ducks command an audience of their own, if they were to take the stage, they’d be a riot. Their greatest value is the hours of entertainment they offer the kids along with the children’s village which is set up for hours of endless fun

The concerts start at 11am and end at 6pm. With its beautiful Cape Dutch architecture and prestigious wines the estate promises to deliver on world-class entertainment.

Price: R150 per person. Children under 10 enter free of charge.
