Local artist, Faith47, is a self-taught street and studio-based contemporary virtuoso who operates globally.
Her impressive street art career spans 15 years and you can see her work around the world in major cities. Faith47 had an incredible year in 2015 and gained much international acclaim for her unique work.
Faith47’s 2015 work includes The Psychic Power of Animals Street Intervention in New York, USA. It’s a series that recreates nature on cement in an attempt to reconnect people with the natural world.
The artwork, Libertad, which forms part of the Murals for Oceans Expedition Mural Project in Cozumel, Mexico which raises awareness about marine preservation. The two seaside murals spotlight the impact of plastic pollution on nature. Watch a video highlighting the creative process, below:
Faith47 created a painting in solidarity with the #FeesMustFall student protests in October 2015. The poster is still available for free download and non-commercial use from a local news site.
Another 2015 highlight was a solo exhibition entitled Aqua Regalia Solo Exhibition at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York that featured an array of multidisciplinary pieces.
With other 2015 work located in Taiwan, France, China, Tahiti and Canada, this local artist is truly a maverick in her craft and we are proud of her positive representation of South Africa abroad.
