Fans of legendary opera singer Andrea Bocelli are in for a treat this Easter as the famed musician will take to the stage for a live performance.

This Easter most, if not all, churches will be closed due to the coronavirus but the historic Duomo Cathedral in Milan, Italy will welcome a single guest. Andrea Bocelli will take to the stage for a special audience-free concert that will be livestreamed to fans around the world.

The concert will be titled ‘Bocelli: Music for Hope’ and will feature on Bocelli’s YouTube channel at 7pm on April 12 in Italy, which is the same time in South Africa.

Anticipated pieces such as ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Sancta Maria’ are on the line-up for the evening and Bocelli will be supported by cathedral organist, Emanuele Vianelli.

Bocelli is reportedly doing the concert completely free of charge to lift the spirit of locals and people across the globe during these trying times. His foundation has also raised over $140 000 in support of hospitals in Italy where coronavirus has ravaged the population.

He will take the stage again on April 18 for his ‘One World: Italy and the world’ concert.
